Broadfoot doubtful for Buddies game

Ibrox manager Walter Smith revealed Broadfoot was still suffering discomfort in his foot. The injury kept him out of Sunday's 1-0 win over Falkirk and he is a major concern ahead of Wednesday's trip to St Mirren Park. "We're not sure about Kirk," Smith told the club's official website. "It's an awkward injury he has in his foot and it's causing him a little bit of pain there. "He has been missing games here and there but he's started training again and that's encouraging. "I would say he's doubtful for the game at the moment but we might try to get him through part of our session tomorrow and see how he goes." Smith had already added Lee McCulloch to his injury list after the midfielder aggravated a calf problem at Falkirk. "Lee has been training for a fortnight there while everyone else was away with their international squads," Smith said. "It was all okay until the latter stages of the game when he pulled up with the same problem again, and that's the disappointing thing." Kenny Miller is still missing with his hamstring problem and both Kyle Lafferty and Kevin Thomson are nursing knee injuries. Those problems have been compounded by two-week club suspensions for captain Barry Ferguson and goalkeeper Allan McGregor for their behaviour on Scotland duty. And Smith admits the absences are something he could do without as Rangers bid to close a three-point deficit on SPL leaders Celtic, who host Falkirk on Wednesday. "Going into this stage of the season, we would have wanted everyone available to us and I don't think there's any doubt about that," Smith said. "Sadly, injuries are something that happens in football and we've no choice but to try to get on with our task in the final few games and without some of our players."
