Boyd to fight for Gers place
18 Jun 2008 - 12:14:13
Striker Kris Boyd has vowed to stay at Rangers and fight for his first-team place despite the addition of fresh competition this summer.
The Scotland international scored 25 times last season despite starting just 25 games in all competitions.
Gers boss Walter Smith has bolstered his attacking options with the arrivals of Kenny Miller and Andrius Velicka, while Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty is set to join the Ibrox club from Burnley.
But Boyd has no intention of leaving the Glasgow club and is determined to play his way into Smith's starting plans.
"The club has signed new strikers but that happens every summer here," he told the club's official website.
"I want to stay at Rangers and the fact no one has ever told me to go is good enough for me.
"I'm going to stay and fight for my place. I've never wanted to leave."
