Boyd secures Smith praise

Rangers manager Walter Smith praised striker Kris Boyd after his double helped the Gers to a 3-1 victory at Hamilton Academical.

Boyd recently called time on his career with the Scotland national team, but made his point with a double against the newly-promoted side.

Smith said afterwards: "There is a determination about him to do well this season. It's not just the recent happenings that have made him do that, he has been of that attitude throughout the season.

"This season, there is maybe a little more determination to try to improve aspects of his game that myself and other managers have been a little bit critical of.

"He's trying and, as long as it doesn't stop him from scoring goals, it's fine.

"We will keep him playing in the majority of matches and he has already played in the majority of matches this season."
