Boyd calls for bravehearts

Striker Kris Boyd has urged his homegrown team-mates to stand up and be counted in a bid to kick-start Rangers' below-par season.

Last weekend's shock defeat by struggling Dundee United left the Gers trailing Old Firm rivals Celtic by 15 points in the SPL title race.

A number of cosmopolitan signings made by new boss Paul Le Guen have so far failed to adapt to life at Ibrox, and Boyd has called for the Scotland-born players in the squad to step up to the plate.

"It's difficult for some players coming from a different country, learning the language and learning about what it means to play for the club," said Boyd.

"It's going to take time but, at a club like this, you don't get time.

"It's important that the Scottish lads try to carry the club forward just now, and then, once the other lads get into the swing of it, they can add their bit to the club as well."
