Boyd: I almost quit Gers

Rangers striker Kris Boyd has admitted that he almost left the club in the summer because of his lack of first-team starts.

The 25-year-old, who has already scored 13 goals this term, was usually omitted from Walter Smith's starting line-up for the big games last season.

The former Kilmarnock forward admitted: "I thought maybe my time was up and I'd have to move on.

"I thought about it over the summer but decided to give it another shot. I didn't want to walk away and give up on the club I love as easy as that.

"I've always wanted to play here and be a part of success. I got a taste of that last season and want more this year."
