Boyd wants to stay at Rangers

The prolific striker, 25, looked to be on his way out of Ibrox in January when Birmingham had a bid accepted for him.[LNB]The move broke down over personal terms and Boyd has gone on to net his 100th goal for the club, reaching the landmark in just 146 games.[LNB]Despite being their most potent weapon, cash-strapped Rangers may be forced into accepting another offer for Boyd when the transfer window reopens.[LNB]The player himself is resigned to his fate being out of his hands but, given the choice, he knows where he would rather be.[LNB]Asked by a reporter - who had clearly forgotten his age - if he would like to end his career at Ibrox in three or four years time, Boyd joked: "I hope not - hopefully six or seven![LNB]"I'm happy here and I want to continue to play at Rangers and I want to keep scoring goals at Rangers."[LNB]Boyd, who has scored 29 goals this season, is carrying much of Rangers' SPL title hopes on his shoulders.[LNB]But asked if he was the man to fire the club to their first league crown in four years, he said: "Andrius (Velicka) said that last week so maybe he is![LNB]"I just need to wait and see."[LNB]Boyd's form has reopened the debate as to whether he should end his international exile and apologise to Scotland boss George Burley for refusing to play under him.[LNB]The striker yesterday slammed the door on that possibility, insisting he stands by the decision he took in October.[LNB]Meanwhile, Ibrox team-mate Kyle Lafferty has declared himself fit for Sunday's clash against Hearts.[LNB]The Northern Ireland striker has been out of action for more than five weeks after suffering an ankle injury against the Jambos on their last visit to Ibrox.[LNB]Lafferty initially feared his season was over but he now fully intends to have a key role to play in the climax to the season, with five crucial SPL matches and a Homecoming Scottish Cup final to look forward to.[LNB]The 21-year-old returned to training with the rest of the first team squad this week and hopes to make the bench this weekend.[LNB]He told www.rangers.co.uk: "I'm available for selection on Sunday, which is a big bonus for me.[LNB]"When I first got the injury, I thought that was my season finished. I kept hearing it would be two months but then when I was told four-six weeks, it gave me something to aim for.[LNB]"It's about five weeks since I did it now so I'm really happy with that.[LNB]"I had been doing well in the first 35 minutes or so against Hearts before I came off with the injury and now I'm just hoping to get a run out and maybe a goal at the weekend.[LNB]"But I think it would be harsh on the lads that have come in if I went straight back in to the starting line-up because they have done really well and gone on a great run.[LNB]"So I know it is going to be difficult to get back in the team. I just have to work hard in training and if I get a chance in the game I need to show what I can do again."[LNB][LNB][LNB] Scottish Premier League. Click here to bet.
