Boyd hits out at skipper Ferguson

The Rangers duo were involved in a drinking session at Scotland's Loch Lomond base after they returned from Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Holland in Amsterdam and both have been left out of the squad for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Iceland. A row between manager George Burley and the two players followed after the Scotland manager caught the players still in the bar area of the Cameron House Hotel hours after the rest of the players had gone back to their rooms with the result that a place on the bench is the best either can hope for at Hampden. Burley's plans have been throw in to disarray at the worst possible time as Scotland need all three points against Iceland if they are to have a realistic chance of reaching South Africa next summer. Former Celtic skipper Boyd, who won 72 caps for Scotland, believes Ferguson should not have been involved in such an embarrassing incident. "We have to wait and see what happens with both these two," he told BBC Five Live . "I've experienced this with Celtic players but I think you have got a totally different culture now. "With Barry being the national captain he has to show a bit more responsibility. "But George Burley will have to deal with this. "If there has been a breach of rules he will have to see what the punishment is."
