Bougherra rejects Bordeaux

Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra has reportedly rejected an offer to join French champions Bordeaux.

The 26-year-old Algeria international initially looked like he would opt to head to Ligue 1, but Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc has admitted defeat in his attempts to sign Bougherra.

He confirmed: "The deal to sign Bougherra was nearly concluded on Friday.

"I was sure I had the defender, but at the last minute the player said he didn't want to come. We now have to look to other targets."

Bougherra only moved to Ibrox a year ago, scoring once in 39 appearances last term.
