Bougherra not looking to leave

Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra has dismissed suggestions that he could leave Ibrox during the January transfer window.

The Algeria defender has angered Gers boss Walter Smith with several late returns from international duty during his 18 months with the Glasgow club.

However, Bougherra has denied reports which claimed that his time in the Scottish Premier League was coming towards an end.

"You can never swear to anything in football because everything can change, but I do not intend to leave Rangers," the former Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton defender told the Evening Times.

"I feel good at this club, I have always said I like stability and I intend to finish the season here.

"The year has ended well for me with the qualification for the World Cup and hopefully the season will end well with Rangers winning the title again."
