Bougherra: I let the team down

The Algeria international was booked when he conceded a penalty with five minutes remaining at Fir Park after a challenge on Lukas Jutkiewicz, and was then given a second yellow for an angry outburst at the decision. Referee Dougie McDonald blew for the penalty, which was eventually saved by Allan McGregor, before having no choice but to send the centre-back off after a vicious tirade. And the 26-year-old admitted that he had let his team down. "I know next time that won't happen and I will keep my emotions in check," he told the Daily Record. "I will accept the decision even if I think it is the wrong one. I let my team-mates down and I need to learn a lesson. "I will not do this again. This is just football and I will learn from this. I know I will get into more trouble if I keep talking." Bougherra, who was last sent off in May against Aberdeen, apologised to the referee after the 0-0 draw and said he got carried away in the heat of the moment. "I lost it on Saturday and I made a point of speaking to the ref after the game," he added. "I apologised because this was not me. When you go out onto the pitch it is different. The atmosphere is so intense. "Rangers had a better chance of winning the game with 11 players so I hope those two points don't hurt us this season."
