Beasley: I'm your man for final

USA midfielder Beasley appears an unlikely starter in the crunch Co-operative Insurance Cup final with Celtic at Hampden Park, though that was also the case 10 months ago when he was named in the side for the Scottish Cup final against Queen of the South.[LNB]Despite that match being his first start for six months after a long injury lay-off, Beasley was one of Rangers' heroes in a 3-2 victory, scoring their second goal and delivering the corner from which Kris Boyd netted the winner.[LNB]"Nobody can take that away from me," said Beasley, who turned 26 that day.[LNB]"It was my birthday and scoring and getting an assist to Boydy's goal was a great achievement for myself.[LNB]"Just to hold a medal and after being out for five or six months and help the team was a great compliment for myself."[LNB]Beasley, who was on the brink of a move to German club Schalke in the January transfer window, has played for the Rangers first team just once in the last three months.[LNB]He is desperate to be given another opportunity at Ibrox, insisting he is the man to fill their problem left-side position.[LNB]"I just want to get a chance to play," he told Rangers World.[LNB]"Anybody could be put in any position but the left side or right side is where I play and where I want to play.[LNB]"I haven't had the chance to do that and stake my claim.[LNB]"But, at the end of the day, the team is winning.[LNB]"We're still in the hunt for three trophies and that's the most important thing.[LNB]"I want to hold medals at the end of the year and hopefully I can do that."[LNB]Having played only 18 minutes of this season's League Cup, Beasley would love to do more to earn that medal on Sunday.[LNB]"Obviously, everybody wants to play but you've got to be realistic," he said.[LNB]"You just hope for the best but the important thing is that the guys that are going to play are ready for the final.[LNB]"Hopefully, we don't have any injury problems."[LNB]With the final being the first between the Old Firm for six years, Beasley admits a recall would be even more special.[LNB]"It's against Celtic - that's the reason it would mean a lot more," he said.[LNB]"Any time Rangers play against Celtic, it's a big game, so I'm looking forward to it."[LNB][LNB]
