Beasley hopes to keep Rangers place

The United States international has made a dramatic return to the first team in the last few games after spending months in the wilderness.[LNB]A combination of injuries and finding himself on the periphery of the squad led him to question whether he had a future at Ibrox but a startling return to form has since allowed him put his Rangers career back on track.[LNB]The winger impressed in the 3-0 win over St Johnstone before finding the back of the net against both Dundee United and Motherwell as the Scottish champions returned to the summit of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.[LNB]Beasley is now desperate to retain his place in the team for the second half of the season, knowing that a place in America's World Cup squad could be the prize if he can continue his fine form.[LNB]Meetings with Slovenia and Algeria await Bob Bradley's men in South Africa this summer but Beasley admits it is the prospect of facing England which really excites him.[LNB]"There has been a lot of talk about the game," he said.[LNB]"We won in 1950 and there is the history of that. It's definitely a big game for us.[LNB]"In America, for the six months leading up to the World Cup, it's all you're going to hear about. After that, you won't hear a thing about football.[LNB]"I played at Wembley before and it will be a good game. They have a lot of great players and I can't speak highly enough of England.[LNB]"It will be the first game of the World Cup so it's very important to get off on a good note.[LNB]"But I'm not there yet.[LNB]"When you play, you get confidence. You get confidence in yourself and your team-mates get confidence in you.[LNB]"It's always good to be back. I want to play football and I'm just glad I'm getting the opportunity at the moment."[LNB]While kicking his heels on the sidelines, Beasley was quoted as saying he could leave Rangers in search of first team football elsewhere.[LNB]But he insisted: "It was never the case that I wanted to leave because, if that was the case, I would have left in the summer.[LNB]"I just want to play and, with the World Cup coming up, if that wasn't happening here, maybe I would need to move on.[LNB]"But I never said I wanted to leave, to get out. Rangers have always been good to me - the fans, the players.[LNB]"I just want to get back to my best at this club because I do love playing for Rangers."[LNB][LNB]
