Bain: No new Mendes offer

Rangers chief executive Martin Bain has dismissed talk of Sporting Lisbon having lodged an improved offer for Portugal international midfielder Pedro Mendes.
The 30-year-old was the subject of interest a couple of weeks ago, but Bain insists that no fresh offer has been fielded.
He told The Herald: "The president of Sporting called me two weeks ago, but we have not spoken again since then. We have not received any offer."
Mendes had earlier stated that he would like to head home, telling the Scottish Sun: "I am awaiting news on what might happen.
"It would be difficult to reject a move to Sporting because I am Portuguese and this move could have a big influence on my family life."
