Rangers duo Walter Smith and Kris Boyd have been named as the SPL Manager and Player of the Month for December respectively.

Smith guided his side to six wins out of six in the league last month, before the New Year began with a 1-1 Old Firm draw at Celtic which kept the Gers seven points clear at the top of the table.

Twenty-six-year-old Scotland striker Boyd netted an incredible 11 SPL goals in December, starting with doubles against both Falkirk and St Johnstone, before scoring against both Motherwell and Hibernian.

He then became the leading scorer in the SPL era by notching five times in the 7-1 thrashing of Dundee United on the day before New Year's Eve.
