Rangers have agreed a fee with Ipswich Town to sign goalkeeper Neil Alexander.
Alexander, 29, is a Scotland international who now looks set to join the Ibrox club to provide competition to regular number one Allan McGregor.
Gers boss Walter Smith has been on the lookout for a new keeper after sanctioning the expected departure of Roy Carroll to Derby County.
Alexander joined the Tractor Boys in the summer on a free transfer from Cardiff City.
"It is a dream move for Neil and we couldn't stand in his way," Town boss Jim Magilton told the club's official website.
"He is back in the Scotland national squad and we are aware that he is very keen to push his international ambitions and a move back to Scotland will enhance that.
"It has been difficult for his family to settle in the area. Their friends are in Scotland so a move to Rangers makes sense for many reasons.
"It's a great opportunity for him and we wish him well."
