eil Alexander has revealed his hopes of landing a coaching job at Rangers when he hangs up his gloves.[LNB] The goalkeeper, 32, signed a new deal on Thursday that keeps him at Ibrox until 2013 and he hopes to have a part to play during that time despite acknowledging he is likely to remain as second choice to Allan McGregor for the time being.[LNB]But he is already looking to the future and would love a career in coaching one day, admitting goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart's role would be his dream job.[LNB]Alexander said: "I've learned from all the coaches here. You learn from people like Ally McCoist, Ian Durrant and Kenny McDowall - everybody.[LNB]"You learn different things, not always goalkeeping, just in general. I'm a lot wiser and a bit more experienced.[LNB]"I'm taking my coaching badges as well and I'd like to become a goalkeeping coach and so it's great to be working with Jim Stewart every day and I'm learning from the best.[LNB]"I joke about it every day and say I'm going to take his job. I always look to the future and it's something I'd love to do.[LNB]"If it was at Rangers, it would be amazing."[LNB]With renewed speculation about Manchester United's interest in McGregor, Alexander could be given his chance as number one sooner than expected if another club did swoop for his team-mate.[LNB]But he insisted reports over McGregor's future were not the motivation behind his new contract.[LNB]Alexander said: "This contract is about myself and what is good for me and my family.[LNB]"My family are very settled and happy and I thought another three years here would be perfect for me.[LNB]"I've had a lot of success in the games I've played and I want more of that.[LNB]"Who knows what's around the corner? I've just got to keep thinking I might be playing and prepare right just in case for that day I might get a run in the team."[LNB]Alexander insists no-one at Rangers wants to witness McGregor's departure - including himself - but has no doubt about his ability to play at the highest level.[LNB]He said: "I've stated many, many times how good I think Allan is.[LNB]"I don't think he would struggle but we are happy to have him here at Rangers.[LNB]"We want to keep our best players, it makes the club better and makes us win more."
