Rangers goalkeeper Neil Alexander revealed his hunger for trophy success was the main factor behind his decision to sign a new contract.[LNB] Alexander today committed himself to the SPL champions until the summer of 2013.[LNB]The 32-year-old is second choice behind Allan McGregor but he had no second thoughts over agreeing to the contract, which has been in the pipeline for several weeks.[LNB]The former Cardiff and Ipswich goalkeeper said: "I have always said that I am happy at Rangers. As a young boy growing up you look at Rangers as one of the top clubs in the world and I always wanted to play for a club like that.[LNB]"I have worked my whole career to get to a club like Rangers so why would I want to be in a hurry to leave?[LNB]"I'm just delighted to be involved in the tremendous successes at Rangers. I hadn't won a lot before I came to Rangers and now I have won every domestic honour going so it's fantastic. I am very keen to win more."[LNB]McGregor has arguably been in the best form of his career for club and country in recent weeks, with Alexander's only SPL appearance this season coming when the number one was suspended for the 4-1 win over Motherwell.[LNB]But, through a mixture of McGregor's injury and indiscretion, plus manager Walter Smith's decision to play his number two goalkeeper in the Co-operative Insurance Cup, Alexander has played in four cup finals since arriving at Ibrox in January 2008.[LNB]"Obviously I would like to play more but I feel I have been involved in more matches than I thought I would," Alexander told www.rangersfc.co.uk.[LNB]"I have played 42 matches and if I had been told that would happen before I signed then I would have been delighted.[LNB]"Hopefully I can continue to get games in the next three years."[LNB]Alexander, who played in the 2008 UEFA Cup final defeat by Zenit St Petersburg, added: "It has been an even better career than I could have imagined given the amount of games and the amount of high profile games I have played in too.[LNB]"It has been phenomenal and I would love that to continue in the next three seasons. I have loved being part of trophy successes.[LNB]"That's one of the reasons why I have signed a new deal.[LNB]"The League Cup for example is something that the manager has given me and it gives me the chance of playing and it's a competition that hopefully leads to another final and another medal.[LNB]"It gives me something to strive for. It can be frustrating sitting on the bench but when these games come along it's great.[LNB]"You have to be ready when you are called upon. Things can happen at any time at a club like Rangers and you need to go in and do the business.[LNB]"It's high pressure but it's something I thrive upon. Playing in front of 50,000 at Ibrox is so special."
