eil Alexander has expressed his desire to put pen to paper on a new deal at Rangers once the club's own future is sorted out.[LNB] Alexander has already held provisional talks with Walter Smith and indicated he would like to remain at Ibrox beyond the end of his current deal.[LNB]The 32-year-old has so far been unable to establish himself as first choice at Rangers but he will be between the sticks for Sunday's SPL finale against Motherwell after Allan McGregor was ruled out of action for around six weeks with medial ligament damage.[LNB]"I've got another year left on my contract and the manager spoke to me just before January and he's keen to extend my contract," said Alexander.[LNB]"We had a chat and he wants me to stay on. I told him that I'm happy to be here and would be delighted to sign a new deal.[LNB]"We have to wait for things to happen in other areas for the contract to go through and then I'll sit down properly and discuss it and try to get it signed. I've said all along that I love it here and I'm very happy here.[LNB]"Obviously it's frustrating at times not playing but to be part of a squad winning titles, winning trophies, playing in the Champions League - it's fantastic to be a part of that."[LNB]However, Alexander admits he could be lured away from the Scottish champions if McGregor remains at Rangers beyond the current campaign and he is made an attractive offer from elsewhere.[LNB]"I'm really happy here and keen to stay but never say never," he said.[LNB]"If I knew that Allan was going to stay and there was a guarantee of first-team football at a good club at a good level somewhere else, then it would be something I would have to consider."[LNB]McGregor is seen as one of Rangers biggest assets and has been tipped for a possible summer departure, which could pave the way for Alexander to stake a claim for the gloves.[LNB]He added: "If it happened, I would love the manager to give me a run in the team and a chance to be number one but I can't think like that because it might not happen.[LNB]"If it does happen, then I wish Allan all the best because he is a fantastic goalkeeper and he has been absolutely magnificent for Rangers.[LNB]"But Rangers will want to keep their best players if possible and Allan is one of the best players so I'm sure the manager would want to keep hold of him."
