Albertz backs Boyd to stay

Jorg Albertz has urged Kris Boyd to snub any other offers which come his way over the summer and pledge his future to Rangers.

Celtic have refuted reports they were set to make a sensational swoop for Boyd but the striker is unlikely to be short of clubs keen to land him for nothing at the end of his Rangers contract.

Asked where he would like to see Boyd playing next season, Albertz said: "I would like to see him stay and scoring goals for Rangers - simple."

He added: "I played for Rangers and I loved the club. It was a true love - I wasn't here for the money.

"I didn't get on with somebody and that's why I left.

"If you once play for a club like Rangers, in my opinion, you don't want to leave.

"Every player has to make up his mind but if you have a chance to play for Rangers, you don't want to go somewhere else."

Albertz added: "Scoring a lot of goals for Rangers is not an easy situation and he has to prove himself every season.

"It's going to be a hard task to beat that again after the number of goals he scored this season. But he can do it.

"A lot would maybe depend on who is coming into the club to help him and the team-players around him."
