A post-match snapshot.

I am just numb. I should be angry, I should be typing passionately and furiously on the FF message board at the very least, but I cannot be arsed. In truth I wasn't really surprised. The Rangers support it seems to me is now full of those who don't care much about European football. They want to beat Celtic and win the Scottish league and then revel in their small town, small time, gold-fish bowl success. If they want to enjoy European football, I really think some will just pay up for Sky coverage of Barcelona or Manchester United and get their fix of top class action and glory from these teams and somehow at the same time care for their respective fortunes.I live in London and a lot of really authentic supporters go to watch teams like Dartford and Welling etc in the flesh, because it resonates with their desire for a local identifiable gritty traditional football experience that they can afford. When I cannot afford the time or money for Charlton, I also do the same. One day I will of course return to Glasgow and live near Ibrox, I have plans in place already to do so. I hope that it won't be too late.It does concern me that there is now an acceptance around us that the real glamour in the game comes from those other teams; and not the ones we watch live. We no longer know or care enough to demand it from the team on our doorstep. Quite simply this is now something we get from the telly and that our kids get from World Soccer or FourFourTwo magazines. Are we, 'Rangers', destined for the same future as these small local teams? Most Irish League supporters also like an English Premiership team - for which they reserve their dreaming time and ambitions - whilst the other tangible local stuff like Linfield and Glentoran just passes an afternoon. How soon will we in Scotland be just another Irish League? Do many of our support really care? After all, if we keep beating Celtic to the title we will always be the most successful club team in the world.
