Benedictus set for Raith start

Raith have summer signing Kyle Benedictus available after a ban and the former Dundee defender looks set to start against Albion in the Scottish League Cup.

However, the Kirkcaldy side will be without the injured Craig Barr (hamstring), Lewis Toshney (knee) and Mitch Megginson (groin) as new manager Ray McKinnon seeks to make it two wins out of two in his time in charge at Stark's Park.

McKinnon said: "We had a tough battle against Cowdenbeath to win last weekend and I was pleased with how strong we looked defensively.

"I expect a similar tough encounter with an Albion Rovers side that have players of great ability and experience in their ranks."

Albion include former Queen's Park goalkeeper Blair Lochhead as a permanent signing after he featured as a trialist last weekend and striker Callum McRobbie, who has been recruited from Shettleston Juniors.

Ross Stewart has also been added to the squad after overcoming his broken finger but Scott McBride has been ruled out with a foot injury and Paul Willis is a doubt.

Player-manager Darren Young said: "This is a tough tie and we need to show signs of progress from our defeat at Ayr United if we are to do anything.

"We had good chances in that game but never took them and gave away soft goals. That is not a good combination."
