Prime Minister Gordon Brown has written a letter to Raith Rovers boss John McGlynn wishing the Kirkcaldy club all the best in Sunday's Active Nation Scottish Cup semi-final against Dundee United at Hampden.

Raith's most famous fan took time out of preparing for the forthcoming General Election to contact McGlynn, who was delighted to receive the support

"I got a letter from him complimenting us on our achievements so far and wishing us good luck for the semi-final which was very nice of him," the Starks Park boss said.

"We do appreciate that he has got a lot on his plate right now, he's got an election campaign to fight and let's hope that we are both winners.

"I couldn't tell you (if he will be at the game), I haven't heard anything.

"It would be very nice if he was, if he's not then I'm sure he will be there in mind rooting us on, if not in body."
