Racing Santander announced on Wednesday that they have sacked coach Juan Jose Gonzalez and handed responsibility for first-team affairs to his two assistants, Fede Castanos and Pablo Pinillos.

"From this morning (Wednesday), Juan Jose Gonzalez is no longer the coach of Racing," read a statement on the club's website.

"Until a new coach is appointed, Fede Castanos and Pablo Pinillos will remain in charge of the team."

Gonzalez becomes the second coach to leave the club this season, following the resignation of Argentine coach Hector Cuper on November 29.

Racing have not won in seven La Liga games and currently reside in the relegation zone, three points from safety.
