R's win Routledge chase

Queens Park Rangers have won the race to sign Aston Villa winger Wayne Routledge, who had been on loan at Cardiff City.

The 23-year-old had impressed for the Bluebirds, but has opted to join the R's on a contract running until the summer of 2012.

He told his new club's official website: "I'm thrilled to be here.

"The manager has a great vision about where he wants to take the club and he sees me playing a big part in that.

"The reason I am here is because the manager showed an unbelievable desire to get me to QPR and I am delighted to seal the move."

Routledge started out with Crystal Palace, but has seen his career flounder during unsuccessful stints with Tottenham Hotspur and Villa.
