R's lodge Leigertwood appeal

QPR have decided to launch an appeal to the FA after Mikele Leigertwood was sent off in the hard-fought 1-0 win against Birmingham City.

The 25-year-old former Wimbledon and Crystal Palace midfielder was dismissed on the stroke of half-time for a high challenge on Lee Carsley when the game was still goalless.

Despite being numerically disadvantaged, the R's clinched all three points thanks to a stunning strike from Italian Samuel Di Carmine.

After the win, caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth said of the incident: "I thought it was a very harsh decision."
