Magilton leaves Rangers job

Jim Magilton's brief managerial reign at Queens Park Rangers has been ended by the Championship club.

The R's have confirmed the departure of Magilton and his assistant John Gorman with immediate effect.

Magilton was suspended last week following accusations of a physical confrontation with midfielder Akos Buzsaky after the 3-1 Championship defeat by Watford.

Magilton has denied the allegations but that has not stopped chairman Flavio Briatore from sacking a manager who was only appointed in June.

The Northern Irishman was the fifth permanent manager to work under Briatore since he took over the club two years ago.

'Recent events have been widely reported and whilst Jim Magilton completely denies the allegations, with the full support of John Gorman, it has been agreed that it is in the best interests of the club and Jim Magilton, if the parties move on in their separate ways,' read a club statement.

'The club would like to wish both Jim Magilton and John Gorman good luck in the future and thank them for their hard work.'
