    Helguson seals R's switch

    02 Jan 2009 - 10:26:33

Queens Park Rangers have signed on-loan striker Heidar Helguson on a permanent basis.

The 31-year-old striker joined the Championship club on loan in November and has now put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal at Loftus Road.

The Iceland international had been out of favour at the Reebok Stadium but scored three goals in seven appearances during his initial loan spell.

"Heidar has proved to be a valuable addition to the squad in recent weeks and I am delighted we've managed to bring him here on a permanent deal," R's boss Paulo Sousa told his club's official website.

"He is a proven goalscorer at this level and I'm sure QPR supporters will join me in welcoming him to our family."
