QPR have been rocked by the news that on-loan defender Martin Cranie suffered a fractured fibula in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Coventry City.
The 21-year-old Portsmouth played sustained the injury in the 20th minute and went straight to hospital for an X-ray, which confirmed the fracture.
"It's a great shame," R's physio Paul Hunter told the club's official website.
"It's a similar injury to the one Simon Walton sustained in pre-season.
"Martin has been fantastic since he joined us and it's a real blow. We wish him all the best with his recovery."
Cranie, who has returned to Pompey for treatment, made six appearances during his time at Loftus Road.
