Cole earns new R's deal
17 Aug 2007 - 10:25:24
QPR have handed goalkeeper Jake Cole a one-year contract extension which ties him to the club until 2009.
The 21-year-old shot-stopper has made a handful of first-team appearances for the R's and will provide back up to regular number one Lee Camp this season.
"I have been impressed by Jake's overall attitude and ability," manager John Gregory told the club's official website.
"He is very young and I wanted to improve his contract, both financially and in length.
"He is a fantastic understudy to Lee Camp. I was keen to secure his services for at least the next two seasons."
Meanwhile, R's chairman Gianni Paladini claims Flavio Briatore's proposed takeover of the club would be "a dream come true" for supporters.
The boss of the Renault Formula One team is expected to complete a £20million purchase of the Championship club as early as next week.
