QPR have been rocked by the news that Akos Buzsaky has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The Hungary midfielder damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during Tuesday's 1-0 Carling Cup fourth round defeat to Manchester United.
Buzsaky caught his studs in the Old Trafford turf and limped off in the 33rd minute.
"Unfortunately, Akos will be sidelined for between six to nine months," head physio Paul Hunter told the club's official website.
"We've seen the surgeon and he'll be going in for surgery in the coming days."
Caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth, added: "It's a massive blow for us.
"Akos is a unique talent and he was just starting to hit peak form again, following his spell on the sidelines at the start of the season with an ankle injury.
"I'm devastated we've lost him, but all we can do is offer him support and wish him all the best with his recovery."
