Briatore calls for R's patience
19 Mar 2009 - 07:21:57
Co-owner Flavio Briatore has called for patience as he looks to rebuild Queens Park Rangers step by step.
The Formula One team boss and business partner Bernie Ecclestone have seen the R's struggle for consistency in the Championship this season.
The Loftus Road outfit are set for another campaign in the second tier of English football next year, but Briatore claims that is to be expected following the state of the club when they arrived in November 2007.
"When we started this programme we were talking about four years - we've only had one year," said the Italian.
"Last year we were bankrupt, we paid all the debt and the stadium is ours, 100 per cent. We have put a lot of money behind the club.
"When you are building a house you start from the base, not the roof. Little by little we're improving the stadium, the company, the image and I'm sure we're improving the football as well.
"We have a good squad, so let's see what happens next season."
