Warnock vows to attack

QPR manager Neil Warnock has promised to go for the jugular in every Premier League match this season.

Richard Dunne's late own goal helped the 10-man Hoops to a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday. QPR fell behind to a Barry Bannan penalty after a soft-looking decision, before the ball twice struck Alan Hutton's hand in the box at the other end with referee Michael Oliver waving away the appeals on both occasions.

Warnock was pleased with his side's response to the decisions and backed them to flourish this season, saying: "All the lads were adamant it was the most obvious handball and when you see it you have to say 100% it was a handball. You just had to look at Hutton's face. How he got away with that I'll never know, but all credit to the team."

He added: "All the decisions have gone against us and to carry on with 10 men and get a point is fantastic.

"We're going to really enjoy ourselves this year. Home and away we're going to try and win and entertain."

Counterpart Alex McLeish was visibly frustrated having seen seeing Aston Villa throw away the chance of victory late on and admitted he had stern words with his team at the break.

"I am gutted that we should throw that away in the dying embers of the game," he said. "Especially after a second half performance that was much more what I expect of these players.

"The first half was pretty woeful and I let them know that at half-time.

"Fortunately we restricted QPR to not many gilt-edged chances in the first-half as the back five defended well.

"The irony was that two of the top players ended up in the equalising goal. I felt sorry for those guys."
