Barton was not happy with the club for selling players such as Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll but expressed his desire to stay with the club. The clubs board had other ideas and made him available for a free transfer.
Neil Warnock stepped in and brought Barton to Loftus Road. He has since named him as the clubs captain and his performances on the pitch have inspired QPR to some brilliant results and an 11th place standing in the Premier League so far.
