The Premiership relegation battle

29 April 2013 09:03

Reading and QPR played out a drab 0-0 draw at the Madjeski stadium yesterday which summed up the teams season. It was a match that lacked passion and even the crowd could not get up for this game as both teams got relegated from the top flight.

Harry "Houdini" Redknapp could not work his magic on a QPR side which as Redknapp admitted were infighting over the pay structure. Would Mark Hughes have kept them up and kept them happy we will never know. Nigel Adkins cruelly dismissed by Southampton could not inspire the Royals in the last few weeks after taking over from Brian McDermott Reading were on a nice little run in January and February before they suffered defeats to fellow strugglers Stoke and crucially Wigan.

QPR were thumped 5-0 by Swansea on the opening day of the season and never got going which cost Hughes his job.

Both teams will get 60 million pounds parachute payments for the next four years but as Wolves and Blackburn have discovered getting out of the Championchip is very difficult. Will the big clubs come in for their players especially QPRs who are on big wages.

Who will join them. Will it be Wigan who have 5 tough games left, Aston Villa who play a rejuvenated Sunderland tonight. Lets hope they put on more of a fight than the dull 0-0 draw between the two relegated sides
