Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is poised to revive his career with a £6.5m move to Queens Park Rangers.

Warnock made his move for the England winger at the end of last week but faced competition from Wigan, Stoke, Bolton and Lille for his signature. But new R's signing Joey Barton has also been speaking to Wright-Phillips in a bid to persuade him to move to Loftus Road and the latest reports suggest that he has chosen the Premier League newcomers and arrived in London to finalise the move.

Wright-Phillips is desperate to revive his career having failed to feature in City's plans this term while he started just two league matches last season. The signing will be the latest in a series of exciting new additions to QPR's squad since Tony Fernandes completed his takeover and the R's new owner is also backing the manager's bid to sign Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand.

The former West Ham centre back is struggling to hold down a first-team place at the Stadium of Light following the summer arrivals of John O'Shea and Wes Brown from Manchester United and is understood to welcome the chance of regular football again.
