Sousa breaks QPR sacking silence

12 April 2009 11:39
The Portuguese was dismissed on Thursday for what the Championship club described as the divulging of "highly confidential and sensitive information" with regards Dexter Blackstock's loan move to Nottingham Forest. Sousa claimed the deal had been done without his knowledge or consent, an assessment that was dealt with swiftly by the club's board and led to his exit. Blackstock's agent has since claimed Sousa was aware of the situation with regards his client's move away from Loftus Road. Sousa, who had remained silent on his departure, has thanked joint-owner Flavio Briatore for giving him his first chance in English football, while at the same time refuting suggestions he has in some way acted unprofessionally. "I believe that Mr Briatore, like me, has always had the club's best interests at heart and I would like to thank him for giving me my first opportunity to manage in England," said Sousa. "I hope that my integrity and honesty are not brought into question as I have always sought to act with both throughout my career." Q.P.R. Evens, Draw 12/5, Sheff. Wed 11/4
