Soares hits back to snatch point for Owls

Tom Soares struck late on to salvage a precious point for relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday as they drew 1-1 at QPR. Alejandro Faurlin had broken the deadlock in the 23rd minute with his first goal for Rangers as home manager and former Sheffield United chief Neil Warnock attempted to nudge the Owls closer to the drop. And the Argentinian midfielder broke his duck in style, lashing a half-volley into the back of the net after Damion Stewart had headed a high ball down into his feet. But Soares, who played under Warnock at Crystal Palace, got one over on his former boss with a headed equaliser at the far post 14 minutes from time. QPR however should by then have been home and hosed as they squandered a host of chances, but Wednesday substitute Leon Clarke could have stolen all three points at the death only to shoot straight at Rangers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.
