Ruiz set for Cottage switch

FC Twente's Costa Rican forward Bryan Ruiz is reportedly set to link up with Martin Jol's Fulham for a fee of £10.6million.

The Cottagers chief has been scouring the market for a new striker as his forward line has been depleted by injuries, which has resulted in them scoring one goal and collecting one point from their opening three matches. And, it looks like Jol will return to the Netherlands, where he previously managed Ajax, to snap up 25-year-old Ruiz.

The versatile attacker, who won the Dutch title under Steve McClaren in 2010, can operate on the wing and as a striker so would be a useful acquisition for the Cottagers when they have all of their current forward line fit and available.

If Ruiz does join it could even pave the way clear for Clint Dempsey to leave ahead of Wednesday's 11pm deadline with Arsenal and Paris St Germain both thought to be interested.Meanwhile, Juventus' Czech Republic defender Zdenek Grygera is also set to join the Cottagers after being told he has no future with the Italian giants.
