Magilton revealed the 30-year-old was the "unanimous choice" for the role and the Irishman has every faith in his skipper. He told the club's official website: "We are very fortunate in that, in this group of players, we have a lot of very strong characters. "Martin will wear the armband when selected but we are lucky to have a lot of leaders all over the park. "But Martin was the unanimous choice with the entire coaching staff. He has been here a very long time but he is also a very good player. "He is someone that players look up to and whilst it is never an easy decision, he ticked all the boxes." Magilton also insists he is unconcerned by the injuries to midfielders Alejandro Faurlin, Akos Buzsaky and Mikele Leigertwood. The trio are sidelined with 'minor' thigh strains. They will miss Rangers' pre-season friendly at Wycombe but Magilton is hopeful of seeing them back in action soon. "They are all struggling with small thigh strains and it would be pointless risking them at this stage," Magilton told the club's official website. "These little knocks can sometimes become bigger issues if you rush the player back, so for the time being, they are in the capable hands of our medical department and we will continue to monitor the situation. "They are minor injuries, but injuries that have to be dealt with in the appropriate manner. We will take it day by day and hopefully they will be back with us soon."
