Routledge wings into Magpies' nest

Boro had hoped to sign the 25-year-old after tabling a bid for his services, but the Magpies have stolen a march on their rivals to lure Routledge to St James' Park.[LNB]The news is a major blow for Boro boss Gordon Strachan as he had made Routledge one of his top targets during this month's transfer window.[LNB]Routledge has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal at Newcastle after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.[LNB]The former Tottenham and Aston Villa man is Newcastle's second permanent signing of the month following Danny Simpson's arrival from Manchester United.[LNB]Routledge is expected to go straight into the Newcastle squad for Wednesday's game with old club Crystal Palace.[LNB][LNB][LNB] Newcastle v Crystal Palace.
