Ramsey sees the appeal of Sherwood

Temporary QPR manager Chris Ramsey says he would be happy to reunite with Tim Sherwood at Loftus Road and admits he is in constant contact with the former Tottenham boss.

Sherwood worked with both Ramsey and QPR's director of football Les Ferdinand at White Hart Lane and is the clear favourite to replace Harry Redknapp, who resigned on Tuesday.

"It's been well documented Les will be holding a series of interviews and I don't know anything more than that," Ramsey said.

"Tim and I are good friends outside of football so we speak regularly.

"Tim gave me an opportunity, along with Tottenham, to coach in the Premier League so I would be happy to work with him.

"I think he is very good at what he does.

"It's down to the owners to decide who is going to be best for the club.

"They have the club's best interests at heart and know what they want to do long term."

Ramsey has been put in temporary charge, together with Ferdinand, for Saturday's home game against Southampton and admits he would also like to be considered.

"Any coach when you start off, you always dream about coaching in the Premier League," Ramsey said.

"You couldn't say, 'I don't want to be a manager of a Premier League club'.

"Now I've got to this point in my career, I'm happy to be here, happy to involved with a club like QPR.

"Walking out tomorrow and sitting next to Ronald Koeman in the Premier League is a proud moment for my family."

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes adjusted Ferdinand's role from head of football operations to director of football following Redknapp's departure.

Ferdinand will lead the hunt for a new manager and take on a wider remit throughout the club, including some involvement on the training field.

"Les is obviously a legend at the club and director of football is a job that suits him," Ramsey said.

"Les is in charge of everything to do with football and I'm sure he's going to look at bringing players in, bringing the new manager in and lending his advice to all the football issues.

"From time to time he will be involved in training. The players ask him things anyway - he's a fully qualified coach who's on his UEFA Pro-Licence (the highest coaching qualification)."

Rangers are second bottom of the Barclays Premier League table and have failed to win any of their last seven matches.

Ramsey and assistant manager Kevin Bond will be in the dugout against Southampton this weekend, but Ferdinand will also have a say in team selection.

"It will be a collaborative thing," Ramsey added.

"Les will be involved to a point but on the matchday he won't be coming in to give the pep talks.

"At some stage myself and Kevin have to get our hands dirty and get on with it.

"If there's a disagreement there will be a fight in the tunnel!

"I don't think we'll get to that point where we're disagreeing - we'll discuss and we'll decide."
