QPR boss Harry Redknapp will make a late decision on the fitness of Julio Cesar and Bobby Zamora ahead of the visit of Sunderland.
Brazil international Cesar had to be replaced in the second half of last weekend's 2-1 win at Southampton following a heavy collision, while Zamora remains doubtful with the ankle injury that has kept him out of that match.
Both players were due to take part in training today with Robert Green, who made a vital late save after coming on at St Mary's, ready to fill in again if required.
Redknapp has mapped out the size of the task QPR face to avoid the drop - and it involves almost doubling their points tally.
Rangers head into the final 10 games of the season four points from safety and last in a table they have been looking up at for almost the entire campaign.
Victory at Southampton last weekend revived hopes of a great escape but it was just their third success in 28 league games.
Redknapp believes his side will have to win at least another five, and pick up a couple of draws along the way, if they are to have any chance of beating the drop.
That would appear a tall task for a side that have so far accumulated just 20 points and Redknapp admitted even his target of 37 points might not be enough.
"We need a run of wins. We need another five wins at least I think," Redknapp said.
"We need to win half our games and get a draw or two and get to 37 points.
"I would take 37 points now and walk away. I'd take my chances.
"Whether it is going to be enough I'm not sure but if someone said you can have 37 points I think you'd have to be a fool not to take it."
Redknapp believes a win over Sunderland could even suck the Black Cats into a relegation fight they are, at present, six points clear of in 14th.
Redknapp has warned he expects more teams to be drawn into the battle at the foot of the table - especially if his side can spark a winning run.
"Team who are only seven or eight points above us - it can all change so quickly," said Redknapp.
"Seven or eight points can evaporate very quickly with a couple of wins and a couple of losses.
"We need back-to-back wins - that's something we've never done.
"It's about time we did that."
Matthew Kilgallon and Danny Rose are set to ease Martin O'Neill's personnel worries by returning to the Sunderland squad for the crucial Barclays Premier League trip to Queen's Park Rangers.
Defender Kilgallon is back in the fold after missing last week's draw with Fulham due to illness, while Rose could also figure after coming through a training match this week following a hamstring strain.
O'Neill has signalled his intention to bring striker Connor Wickham back to the Stadium of Light after his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday, but Wickham will not be available to figure.
Despite taking encouragement from the way his side fought back to end a run of defeats and grab a home point against Fulham last week, O'Neill accepts games like the trip to Loftus Road still constitute a genuine relegation battle.
"It's a big game for us as we're entering just slightly less than a third of a season still to go, and I believe the teams in our position and close to us are a little bit anxious about the situation," he said.
"We have had a number of matches where we didn't do very well but I think we have to take the performances into consideration. We always seem to be fighting back and in my view we shouldn't have lost any of those recent games."
