QPR midfielder Sandro could return for Chris Ramsey's first game in temporary charge against Southampton on Saturday.

Sandro is still regaining fitness but has recovered from a knee problem that has kept the midfielder out since November 22. Alejandro Faurlin remains sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury.

Ramsey may also reintroduce Adel Taarabt to the first team. The Moroccan forward was not considered fit enough to play by Harry Redknapp, who resigned as manager on Tuesday.

Ramsey will offer all of the players a "clean slate" for as long as he and Kevin Bond are in charge of the team.

The west London club are in the process of recruiting a new boss, with Tim Sherwood the early frontrunner.

However, with no specific timescale in place for the appointment, it was business as usual at the Hoops' Harlington base on Thursday morning as Ramsey, Bond and goalkeeping coach Kevin Hitchcock took charge of training for the first time since the new backroom restructuring, which included Les Ferdinand being named director of football.

Former England Under-20 coach Ramsey - who only came to QPR in late October last year following a decade at Tottenham and was working with the Academy - insists this is now a fresh start for everyone at the club as they look to pull clear of the relegation zone.

"From the point of view that we had a manager of great stature before, I think we are going to have to maintain some of the things he did, but I will also be myself and implement my own ideas," Ramsey said.

"I haven't got the personal relationships with the players that the last manager had, but it is an opportunity now for everyone to show what they can do.

"It is all hands to the pump, it is a clean slate and everyone who is fit and available will be in contention for a place.

"I believe we have got more than enough talent here to see ourselves safe between now and the end of the season."

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman confirmed both Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin have recovered from injuries and will travel to Loftus Road.

With two key midfielders back, Koeman's squad is almost at full-strength and he feels it will have to remain that way if Saints are to continue their push for European qualification.

"We believe in the way we play football and if we can keep everyone fit, that is key, then we can fight for the first six or seven positions in the table," he added.

"We have been struggling a little bit in the last few weeks, not in terms of the results, but we don't have the kind of numbers of players and it can be a bit of a problem when we have a bench which has only under-21 players on it.

"But still we are fourth in the table and in my opinion it is amazing what we are doing. It is difficult to keep that but there is a possibility, if we keep everybody fit and available, to fight for European football."
