Queens Park Rangers have made an audacious bid to land French international forward Olivier Giroud, according to The Daily Mail.

Mark Hughes is desperate to land a top quality striker and avoid another relegation scrap this season.

Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the Montpellier striker who scored 26 goals last season.

Club owner Louis Nicollin claimed to rate the 25-year-old at £50million but the player is rumoured to have a £12.8m release clause in his contract.

Montpellier were crowned Champions of Ligue 1 last season and are in no rush to sell the highly-rated forward.
