The Latvian suffered a heavy blow to the face and was sent to hospital after the game. He had 16 internal stitches and a further 14 external ones to fix the two and a half inch laceration. Head physio Paul Hunter told the club's website: "The cut was down to the very bone. "The gash itself was about two and a half inches deep, so he'll be quite sore this morning. "But the specialists have given him the go-ahead to resume full training on Thursday with the rest of the lads and assuming he has no setbacks between now and then, he'll be in contention for the trip to Wolves at the weekend."
