Chris Ramsey Feels The Heat As Derby Hand Qpr Another Championship Defeat

QPR head coach Chris Ramsey admitted the pressure is growing after his team lost 1-0 at Derby who celebrated their eighth win in 10 matches.

There has been speculation about Ramsey's position and that is likely to increase after an Andreas Weimann goal condemned Rangers to a second away defeat in five days and left them six points adrift of the top six.

The game started badly for Derby who lost left-back Craig Forsyth with what looked a serious injury in the 21st minute but they responded by creating the better chances in the first half with Chris Martin just failing to head in a free-kick in the 38th minute.

Derby started the second half strongly and after Jacob Butterfield rattled a post, Weimann beat Robert Green from 15 yards in the 51st minute although Rangers felt Richard Keogh handled before he passed to the former Aston Villa forward.

Green kept Rangers in the game by parrying a fierce Butterfield drive and the visitors rarely threatened to deny Derby before James Perch was sent off for a second yellow card in the 90th minute.

Ramsey said: "I would say you are always going to be under pressure as a manager when you are not winning. We can see bigger and better managers than me in the papers lately are under pressure, people who have won trophies and European Cups.

"The fans would want us to be winning week in, week out but it has to be said we've changed direction from what we decided at the start of the season and so the expectations are a little bit higher than initially expected.

"I thought we deserved more tonight, we were more than an equal match for them and obviously very, very disappointed with the ref's decision with the goal for not giving us a handball because at that stage the game was pretty even.

"We also thought we should have had a penalty and at this moment we are having a hard time but we've got to keep believing in what we are doing, we've shown we can perform as well as the top teams."

Derby head coach Paul Clement believes his team could really be going places.

"Everyone is pulling together and I've got a really good feel about this group," he said.

"The team spirit, the cohesiveness, and the understanding of the tactics are growing all the time and the players are showing so many different qualities. They can grind out difficult games, won't get bullied by any team, can play good football, and can defend and keep clean sheets.

"It's good and we've got to keep it going and that's the test in this league. That's four home games on the bounce that we've won and we're confident we can go to any ground and win because our record shows that."

The only worry for Clement was Forsyth's injury and he admitted: "He's injured his knee and it could be a bad one. We won't know until it's been scanned but it could be serious."
