Baptism of fire for Fowler

Newly-appointed Queen of the South manager James Fowler faces a baptism of fire when league leaders Hearts visit and adds Greg Kiltie to his squad following his arrival on loan from Kilmarnock.

Kiltie could feature as Chris Higgins and Daniel Carmichael are both injury doubts and they may join Mark Durnan (knee), Chris Mitchell (back), Paul Burns (knee), Stephen McKenna (hip) and Michael Paton (hamstring) in missing out.

Fowler said: "I watched Hearts beat Livingston 5-0 and they are a very strong squad. However, we showed a couple of weeks ago when Hibs visited that we are a more than decent team, so we can take something."

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson will pick a team to suit the Palmerston pitch.

Neilson has a full squad but is set to change the team that thrashed Livingston 5-0 when they play on the artificial pitch in Dumfries.

He said: "It's a squad game now. I'll pick a team for going down to play on astro turf that will be different from the team that played on grass on Saturday.

"It's important people understand that it's not about keeping certain players happy, it's about winning football matches.

"If winning football matches means changing the team and putting some boys in and taking some guys out, then it's all about the football club and winning games and winning the league."
