Andy Murdoch in line for Doonhamers debut

Queen of the South will give on-loan Rangers midfielder Andy Murdoch his home debut when Alloa visit Palmerston Park.

The Doonhamers will be without skipper Chris Higgins because of an ankle injury, while Callum Tapping (knee) and Dale Hilson (foot) are also out.

Aidan Smith is struggling with a knock but Gary Oliver has been passed fit.

Manager James Fowler said: "The Alloa players have responded well to Jack Ross going in as their manager so this will be a very difficult game. We have had a frustrating wait to get playing again after going out of the Scottish Cup a fortnight ago and hopefully we can take that out on Alloa."

Bottom-of-the-table Alloa, who missed out on a second win in a row when their game against Morton was abandoned last weekend, will be without Michael Chopra (ankle).

Dougie Hill and Iain Flannigan are both carrying knocks however they are expected to feature.

Assistant manager Paddy Connolly said: "It was really disappointing that the game was not played to an end as we were looking good for the win. However, we will take positives from the way we played and build on them against Queen of the South.

"Before we played Morton we had won at Raith Rovers so we can be confident."
