Doonhamers duo miss opener

Queen of the South will be without suspended midfielder Mark Millar and new signing Darren Brownlie for their home game against Alloa.

Brownlie remains sidelined with a knee injury and fellow new Doonhamers signing Calum Tapping is also out due to a foot problem, while Dale Hilson is struggling with a knock.

Manager James Fowler said: "We're very much a new side and it would be great if we could get our league campaign off to a win following success in the Petrofac and Scottish League Cup.

"However, it will not be easy as Alloa are disappointed at losing to Berwick last weekend and will be out to make amends."

Alloa welcome back Graeme Holmes after a two-game ban with manager Danny Lennon hoping to add a striker to his squad before kick-off.

The Wasps are looking to bounce back from losing 3-2 at Shielfield in the Scottish League Cup after being two goals up.

Lennon said: "You often learn more in defeat than victory and our players learnt that if your work-rate drops you get punished.

"But their response in training has been terrific and they are determined to get our league season off to a winning start.

"Queen of the South won 13 home games last season, but we will give it a go."
