Higgins to boost Doonhamers

Queen of the South welcome back defender Chris Higgins from suspension for their top-versus-bottom clash with visitors Albion Rovers.

The Doonhamers will again be without Ian McShane who has a hip problem and ankle injury sufferer Willie Gibson.

Palmerston player/manager Allan Johnston has asked his players for the same level of professionalism that they displayed against Stranraer last week when the Cliftonhill side visit.

Johnston said: "Everyone expects us to win this game but football is not as easy as that. Last week at Stranraer we were winning by a goal and they had their goalkeeper sent off but our players carried on playing at full pace and we won 5-0.

"We need to show that same level of application to win this one."

Albion Rovers manager Todd Lumsden will be without Tony Stevenson through suspension.

Mick O'Byrne is absent after ankle surgery and Chris Boyle is struggling with a hamstring problem but Robbie Winters is set to be included as a trialist for the third and final time.

Lumsden said: "We have to show that we are a better team than our performance at Ayr last week indicated. I am expecting a positive reaction and whilst it will be tough at Palmerston I am looking for a huge improvement.

"Queens have beaten us twice this season but we have missed penalties at key times in both games and things could have been different."
